Tuesday – All the pains. All of them.

Tuesday NInja Training

Alright.

Alright, alright, alright.

Now I know, I have to have a strict 3 day upper body recovery… else, my arms just completely give up on me.

It can only be Tuesdays and Fridays.  That’s it.

I couldn’t do many of the obstacles last night at the American Ninja Warrior premiere because I was still recovering from Friday… but I still tried a few things which means I burnt myself out for today.  Today, I was useless.

It was so crazily frustrating.  All the devastation and “why mes?” really hit pretty hard.

I went to the gym at lunchtime to do my grip strength + upper body workout.  I started with a 5 minute warmup on the rower, which was fine.

From my first pull-up though, my arms went into catastrophic fire mode – and that’s where they stayed for hours and hours.  I could barely type, even though I pretty much gave my workout up straight away.  It sucked.

I know this blog is supposed to be about my training, but it’s also about navigating the obstacles.

By the time I finished work my arms had calmed down and so I did my tendonitis eccentric workout. It’s hard not to feel that I’m wasting my time with all of this… while I’m putting in this huge effort just to get back to zero, everyone else is getting stronger, tougher and more skilled… but I just have to keep telling myself that I can only chip away at this tendonitis, and find the ways to resolve or manage it, and keep pushing.

Part of that is maintaining that strict Tuesday and Friday upper body thing.  If I keep doing everything right, then I should (hopefully) only feel the tendonitis come on late Fridays.

Bright side : knee is feeling pretty good.  Didn’t do anything to fix it, I just forgot about it.
