Welcome to our Australian Ninja Warrior episode 2 recap! We’ll be recapping each episode to make sure you get all the deets and stats to make your ninja-heart swell with enthusiasm. We’ve been waiting a long time for this, and we’re very excited to share this moment with you all.
Australian Ninja Warrior Season 1 Episode 2 Obstacles
The classic staple of Ninja Warrior obstacle courses – the Quintuple Steps.
Followed by the UFO Slider to catch a rope.
There is always a balance obstacle third, and this time it’s the Bridge of Blades. It rotates so if you’re off-balance or too slow, it’ll literally push you into the water.
If you get up to here, you’re doing better than 60% of the competition… and so next is the Spinning Wheel to Cargo Net. Unlike last night, you can catch the cargo net with your feet.
The fifth obstacle is nearly always a tough upper body obstacle. Here is the Tilting Frames.
Finally, the extremely iconic Warped Wall is the last hurdle to hit the buzzer to qualify to get into the Semi-Finals.
Australian Ninja Warrior Season 1 Episode 2 Ninjas
Tara Evans was the very first competitor and has a serious set of guns on her. She came off the Bridge of Blades but totally saved herself. It was amazing. She spent ages on the Spinning Wheel but couldn’t quite close the distance to the Cargo Net.
Here are the links to her:
Travers Jamieson & James Boettcher were a couple of quintessential Aussie blokes… pretty much the image of what the rest of the world expects Aussies to be. Travers did really well. He wasn’t quick but he was nimble, strong and smashed the buzzer. James was lightening quick but got done by the Bridge of Blades.

Amanda and Zac Zakharia are the only married couple to take on the course. Amanda went out on the UFO Slider while Zac got to the Warped Wall but couldn’t quite top it. Great effort by both!

Ashley Vallance was taken out by the last possible edge of the Bridge of Blades.
Luke Sorensen did exactly what I was talking about yesterday about the cool, calm approach to the Bridge of Blades… he nearly had it too!
Benjamin Coy got DQ’d for touching the Bridge of Blades. Shame.

Larrissa Miller is a dual Olympic gymnast, and was bouncing through the course. She made it all the way to the Warped Wall, but sadly couldn’t quite get to the top.
Here are the links to her:
Ryan Solomon is super super strong. His girlfriend was hilarious on the side. He crushed the course with no problems… took two attempts at the Warped Wall but crushed it.

Scott Campbell went out on the Tilting Frames.
Danijela Hodges the Viking looked impressive but unfortunately couldn’t make the grab to the rope from the UFO.
Glen Curtis also went out on the UFO Slider.

Scott Evennett is a beast. That is all. Nothing more to say. The crowd was on their feet. Finished the course like a beast.

Jessi-Leigh Bridge went out early on the UFO Slider.
Ahmed Eid caned it up to the Spinning Wheel to Cargo Net.
Sarah Carter had trouble on the mini-tramp to the Spinning Wheel in a run really reminiscent of Kacy Catanzaro.
Chloe Travers was the youngest competitor who smashed her way through to the Spinning Wheel but couldn’t quite get the lift off the tramp.

Rusty Roberts is an Elvis impersonator… he did better than Fat Elvis would. He was super entertaining and really nimble… but couldn’t make it to the net from the Spinning Wheel.

Paul Ranger came on dressed as a Dalmatian but shed the coat and smashed the course, coming in at 2:26 (Paul Ranger Ninja Run)
Mike Krake smashed out a great run and totally made it up the wall.
Nick Turriff did the exact same… smashing out the entire course way too easily.

William Laister is a ballet dancer, but looks like he’s done some ninja training. Finished in 1:20… total dancing gun!
Here are the links to his:
Francis Cullimore is a tank. Rugby dude, body builder, and now Australian Ninja Warrior finalist. Made to the top of the Warped Wall in just under 3 minutes.

Sam Bramham was born with only one leg… but didn’t let that stop him. He cautiously leapt through the Quintuple Steps but went out on the UFO Slider.
Here are the links to his:
Ashlin Herbert is a gun. He smashed the course in the fastest time. Got the run of the night. He’s awesome.
Here are the links to his:
Olivia Vivian was the last run of the night. Olivia is an absolute superstar and a super fun chick. She continually gives the Americans in their own competitions and tonight she was gunning for the warped wall. She made short work of the course, but unfortunately couldn’t make it up the wall. I have absolutely zero doubts she’ll make it into the finals in Season 2.

Australian Ninja Warrior Season 1 Episode 2 Ninjas – Leaderboard
50 ninjas actually ran in this episode, but they only show 12-15 people… so you’ll see some names on the leaderboard that you didn’t see running. Since only 11 made it to the top of the Warped Wall, the next 7 competitors who made it the furthest the fastest also made it into the Semi Final. I love the strategic element to Ninja Warrior… do you speed through or do you take your time to absolutely finish the course?
Hosts are very boring. Whatever you do , do not put Roy and HG on it. Dont know why everyone thinks they are funny. They are terrible and not funny.
Hey hey!
Don’t forget that American Ninja Warrior took about 5 years to find their groove, Akbar is the 3rd host to stand next to Matt Iseman… but he was definitely worth the wait.
It’s a tough gig, the crowd is yelling and you’re trying to commentate in real time without knowing what’s going to happen next. I think this team will get there.
Is there anyway to see the other runs who were successful?
Out of the top 20 more than half weren’t shown… so much time wasted on backstories. They should only get a backstory if they did alright if not who cares.
Are there links to the successful competitors?
I don’t know for certain, but I’m very sure it’s intentional… judging by American Ninja Warrior, they don’t show much of the top runners in the qualifiers because they delve into them during the semi-finals and Grand Final.
No links to successful competitors at this point… the only footage released by Channel 9 is of the televised runs.
Hi everyone,
It looks like a few of the more successful runs are now available here:
